Lyudmila Ugarova, CEO of Obukhov Group of Companies, shared her alarming forecasts for the parallel import car market.
With the introduction of a new methodology for calculating recycling, prices for such cars will increase by 750 thousand rubles or more, and by almost a quarter of a million more starting in 2026. This will lead to the fact that "parallel" cars will almost catch up with the prices of official dealers — but without the usual guarantees and preferential loans.
What do they say about the consequences?
The demand for cars from illegal channels will decrease, and the market will shift towards localized models and Chinese brands, which are rapidly strengthening their positions in Russia. At the same time, according to Ugarova, the dealers' problem is deeper: they lose because of the Central Bank's credit policy - they sell more, and their financial situation worsens. This situation is senselessly destructive and will lead to the restructuring of the dealer network.
